Stairs change carrying time, crew planning and the safe handling of large furniture.
Describe every flight and landing
Count the floors from the apartment to the building exit, not just the apartment level. Photograph narrow turns, landings and low ceilings, and measure the tightest point for wardrobes, beds and sofas. Mention any basement or separate entrance that adds another flight. Share the same information for the destination.
Prepare a safe carrying plan
Ask the mover whether the quoted crew and schedule account for stair carries and which items may need disassembly or special handling. Clear the route, secure pets and children away from stair traffic, and do not leave loose rugs or boxes on landings. Do not assume an external lift can be used: access, permissions and ground space must be checked in advance.
