Plan packaging for delicate assembled models, detachable parts and display cases before the crew arrives.

01

Map fragile parts before choosing the packaging

A painted miniature, a glued model ship and an assembled construction set need different protection. List the models, approximate dimensions and materials, then photograph each one from enough angles to record projecting parts and existing defects. Identify components that are designed to detach and ask the owner or a suitable specialist to prepare them; do not ask a moving crew to test glued joints by pulling. For example, a Ramat Gan apartment may contain a few display pieces, while a hobby room moving from Holon may require individual trays for many models. Decide which original inserts or rigid containers are still suitable. Packing material should support the object without bearing against thin antennas, blades or painted details. Never assume that wrapping a complex model tightly is safer. Keep loose accessories in labeled compartments and state clearly which packages must remain together.

02

Separate the display furniture from its contents

Empty the cabinet and inventory shelves, glass panels and the collection independently. A cabinet door does not restrain delicate models during transport, and space inside furniture is not a substitute for packaging. Label model packages with an inventory number and destination rather than advertising their value. Keep a private photo list available for checking. Discuss who packs the models, how they are carried and where they will be placed without stacking other items on them. At delivery, prepare a stable uncluttered surface, count packages and inspect the protection before opening. Unpack one item at a time and retain small-part containers until the model is complete. Rebuilding, touch-up painting and restoration should not be assumed to be included in a transport service. Agree on specialist work before accepting the quote, and record any concerns while the relevant packing is still available.
