A long lamp needs separate attention to its base, delicate shade and cable rather than one layer of wrapping.
Identify construction and prepare only permitted removable parts
Photograph the assembled lamp, its model label and the way the shade joins the stem. Distinguish a compact reading lamp from a tall arc lamp with a heavy base or a fragile glass shade. Ask the owner to switch off and prepare the lamp according to the instructions before packing; do not dismantle fixed wiring or repair a damaged fitting as part of a move. Remove only components intended to detach, keeping their fittings labeled. For example, a bedroom lamp in Herzliya may have a removable fabric shade, while an arc lamp moving to Raanana may need a separate base package and a protected long section. Record the dimensions of the largest remaining component against doors and lift turns. A light-looking shade can require more space than its weight suggests. Tell the mover about unstable joints, previous repairs and any part that must stay assembled.
Protect the shade without loading it with the base
Keep the shade, base and removable accessories as identified packages belonging to one lamp. Do not place the heavy base inside a carton against the shade or use its hollow space for unrelated objects. Agree on protection for the shade material and support for the long stem, without pressure on switches, joints or glass. Secure the cable so it cannot drag during carrying, without sharply crushing it under a load. Label the intended room and retain a photograph for reassembly. At delivery, count all parts and inspect visible condition before discarding the packaging. Position and reassemble according to the manufacturer instructions, then have any questionable electrical condition assessed before use. Wall-mounted and ceiling-connected fittings are a different job requiring the appropriate professional; a floor-lamp transport order does not include electrical installation. Include packing and any agreed furniture-style assembly explicitly in the quote.
